So you’ve got a new website (yay)
IT’S LOOKING AMAZING, YOUR LOGO IS ALL SETUP, YOU’VE HAD SOME PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS TAKEN, AND GOT A SUPER SLICK DESIGN WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS. now what?
When it comes to pressing the big fat “Go live” button on your website, you suddenly realise, you need words to replace the filler text. The About page you’ve strung together is lacking oomph or your copy is just not there, it’s not you.
Writing website copy is time consuming (and it’s hard for most, especially when writing about yourself).
But, just like your logo and visuals, the words on your site should have purpose, they should be aligned with your brand, hook in readers, and sell. Sell your products and services. Sell your story. And kick any doubt potential customers have to the curb.
Because your website is your chance to shine. It’s about showing off your skills, your experience, your company capabilities. And a chance to speak directly to your target customer and win them over.
How I can help
Website copywriting is one of my favourite projects to take part in. I love getting to know the ins and outs of my client’s business, and using my way with words to capture them on the page.
I also tackle scary stuff like SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to increase your Google search rankings and help your target audience actually find you. I tailor my copy to include the right long and short tail keywords, and give you title tags and meta descriptions (the snippets of text that show up under results in a Google search).
So what makes good website copy?
I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll mention it again. Website copywriting needs to be written for humans and search engines. It needs to incorporate SEO in an organic way without jamming keyword after keyword down your reader’s throat (or eyeballs).
It’s also about understanding that visitors to your site have a short attention span (you literally have six seconds to make a first impression), so I dig deep to find your key message and create conversational copy that grabs your audience’s attention, is clear, and consistent with your brand.
